LEPRECHAUN LEAP 5K 2013
TEAM EARLEY held its second annual 5K run-walk event called the "Leprechaun Leap 5K” on March 10th, 2013 on Main Street in Downtown Nashua NH. Hundreds of runners participated in this event and dozens of prizes were awarded to the fastest runners in their age groups including a prize for the best dressed Leprechaun.

The race began with a bagpipe-lead runner's parade from the Nashua public library
down to the starting line on Main Street.  Mayor Donnalee Lozeau started the race
and WMUR sports anchor Jamie Staton joined the pack in a unique out and back 5K course that traversed towards Greeley Park and returned back to the finish on Main Street. The irish celebration continued with an after-race party sponsored by O'Brien's Sports Bar where runners and families joined us for drinks, raffle prizes, and laughs.

Our 2013 Leprechaun Leap 5K Men's Champion was Frank Kjaersgaard from Lincoln MA with a time of 18:19.  Our 2013 Leprechaun Leap 5K Women's Champion and two-time Leprechaun Leap Women's Champion was Susan Burnham from Goffstown NH with a time of 19:45.  A full listing of our runners finish times can be found on CoolRunning.com

TEAM EARLEY owes all of you who ran, volunteered, sponsored, donated, or simply spread the word a huge THANK YOU and debt of gratitude!
To help you remember this event, we have put together a Flickr Photostream for you to share with families and friends.  We hope to see you again at next years race!

5th Annual PANCAKE PALOOZA 2013
On Sunday, February 17th, TEAM EARLEY held it's 5th Annual Pancake Palooza. Over 200 community members turned out to support this event at the Souhegan High School cafeteria in Amherst.  This year’s Palooza featured our first-in-NH People's Choice Maple Syrup Taste-Off as TEAM EARLEY partnered with several sugarhouses from the New Hampshire Maple Producers Association.  We had 7 local sugarhouses  submit entries for this year's Taste-off.  Our 2013 participants included:

Belvin's Sugar Shack - Amherst NH Mt. Crumpit Sugarhouse - New Boston NH
Ben's Sugar Shack - Temple NH Peterson's Sugarhouse - Londonderry NH
Cilley's Sugarhouse - Francestown NH The Maple Guys - Lyndeborough NH
 Kaison's Sugarhouse - Weare NH

Eight randomly-selected judges graded this year's syrup entries in a blind taste test. Samples from the sugarhouses were rated on a scale from 1-10 and judged on a maple grading system similar to the NHMPA's annual Carlisle Award.  Every judge had the opportunity to grade all of the entries using a weighted scale across; density, clarity, consistency, and flavor with a major emphasis on flavor. The results of the 2013 Maple Syrup Taste-Off People Choice Award are as follows...

  Overall Winner Score
1st Place - Mt. Crumpit Sugarhouse
68.9
Runner Up - Kaison's Sugarhouse

Congratulations to this year's award winners and a special thank you to all the syrup professionals who participated and donated syrup for this event!

116th Boston Marathon 2012
On Monday, April 16th 2012, TEAM EARLEY's founding couple Gregory & Kathy Earley completed the world's oldest and most prestigious annual road racing event. With temperatures reaching the high 80s, the 116th Boston Marathon was not a race to run fast - but merely a race just to finish. Organizers said the highest temperature recorded Monday during the marathon was 89 degrees in Framingham at 12:30 PM.

Nearly 22,500 runners braved unseasonably balmy conditions as some 4,300 participants registered to run opted to sit out. Organizers pleaded with runners to slow their pace to avoid heat stroke but by Monday evening, just under 2,000 participants had received some level of medical attention.

This year's race marked a significant milestone for 5 year cancer survivor Kathy Earley. Kathy completed the 116th Boston Marathon in 5:18:20, a race she last ran as a high school senior and a race she has been supporting her "Running for Cover" Boston Marathon team from the sidelines every year through her recovery.

The Marathon Team of Melanoma Foundation of New England has been fundraising through the Boston Marathon® for over 7 years. With Bill Rodgers as honorary team captain, the Running for Cover team has raised more than $1,000,000 to support the life-saving work of MFNE. The Melanoma Foundation of New England had 37 runners participating in the 2012 Boston Marathon!
